Shield Total Insurance is a specialist insurance broker providing caravan, campervan, motorhome and static caravan insurance. They hired us to generate more relevant traffic to their website.
Insurance is a massively competitive market, and there are huge insurance companies with equally substantial advertising budgets. How do you compete when you're up against such tough competition?
Shield Total Insurance wanted us to get them 10% more page views a month to six main landing pages. The landing pages were for their most important insurance products, namely caravan, static caravan, touring caravan motorhome, campervan and camping insurance.
Ideally, Shield wanted us to get them onto the first page of Google for three keywords (caravan, motorhome and campervan insurance), which had been on page two in the SERPs for ages.

We wrote high-quality, optimised content for the Shield Total Insurance blog, which helped visitors understand how to get the right policy and save money.
We tuned the meta descriptions of all the landing pages on their website to help improve the click-through from the SERPs on Google and other search engines.

A big part of our strategy was to develop the value and volume of backlinks to the main landing pages. We wrote and published guests posts too to high-quality backlinks.

Here is what we generated for Shield Total Insurance in the first five months of our SEO and content marketing strategy.
Shield gained 95% more organic page views in the first five months of our campaign compared to the same period in 2019.
All that extra organic traffic also helped their goal conversion rate, meaning the visitors were relevant and confident enough to click.
Clicks are important when you want people to ask for an insurance quote online. Shield's number of goal completions rocketed.
What about the rankings?
First came the traffic, as you can see above. Within the first month, we'd beaten our goal of an extra 10% in page views on the six landing pages. After three months came the rankings...
After three months of activity building links, creating content and on-page SEO, Shield Total Insurance moved from page two to page one on Google.
Shield moved from page two for motorhome insurance to page one within three months.
We've not yet managed to move Shield Total Insurance to page one yet. We did generate 80% more organic page views for them for the keyword. And, Shield's ranking has improved a number of positions.
